Position Description:
The University of North Dakota (“UND”) seeks a visionary leader and an accomplished teacher and scholar to serve as Dean of the College of Education and Human Development.
The Dean is the chief academic, personnel, financial and administrative officer for the College and reports to the Provost. The Dean provides leadership to over 100 faculty and staff, administers the College according to its bylaws, and is responsible for managing an annual budget of more than $10 million.
The University of North Dakota, one of the nation’s premier regional public research universities, is a comprehensive teaching and research university with approximately 14,696 students. Located in Grand Forks, the third largest city in North Dakota, with a campus spanning 550 acres, UND has a strong liberal arts foundation alongside a variety of professional and specialized programs. UND is one of only 47 public universities in the nation with accredited professional schools of both law and medicine. The graduate school has over 2,673 students and grants degrees in 57 masters and 25 doctoral fields. The University is admired for its spacious, beautiful campus and extensive resources. UND has earned an international reputation for its academic and research programs.
The College of Education and Human Development (EHD) is the largest and most comprehensive of its kind in the region, with over 800 undergraduate students studying in a full range of high quality programs and another 900 plus students studying at the graduate level. The faculty are practitioner-scholars who are committed to excellent teaching, scholarly research and professional service. Graduates go on to positions of leadership in education and human service organizations across the nation. Now one of nine colleges on campus, EHD has a special role within the University of fostering healthy human development and learning across the lifespan, beginning in early childhood. The College actively embraces human and cultural diversity as an asset and seeks to weave it throughout all activities.
The College is located in a beautiful newly constructed and renovated building, designed for LEED Silver certification and equipped with state-of-the-art technology that gives its programs world-wide reach. EHD comprises five departments: Counseling Psychology and Community Services (which also includes Recreation and Tourism Studies and Rehabilitation and Human Services); Educational Foundations and Research; Educational Leadership; Physical Education, Exercise Science, and Wellness; and Teaching and Learning. Also affiliated with the College are the Center for Rural Education and Communities, the Bureau of Educational Services and Applied Research, and the University Children’s Center.
The ideal candidate will be a creative, inspiring, and energetic leader, who can advance the College’s mission in education, service, and research; a skilled administrator who values collaborative governance and student-centeredness; and a visionary who is informed on the emerging trends in the College’s fields, especially as they affect rural areas. He/She will have experience in enrollment management, resource allocation models, and academic program planning. The successful candidate must hold a terminal degree in his/her field, and be eligible for the rank of tenured full professor within the College.

Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation Counseling

Position Description:
Required: Earned doctorate or ABD from an accredited institute in Rehabilitation Counseling, Rehabilitation Psychology, or closely related discipline. Evidence of, or potential for, active and productive program of research. Evidence of, or potential for, university teaching excellence in rehabilitation counseling and related courses. Ability to supervise clinical fieldwork and provide student advisement; Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) or eligibility for CRC.
Preferred: Direct experience in state/federal rehabilitation systems and/or non-profit/profit rehabilitation systems. Demonstrated skills in grant writing or grant development. Demonstrated dedication to multicultural education. Bilingual skills, especially in American Sign Language or Spanish.
Responsibilities: Teach rehabilitation education and counseling courses. Engage in scholarly activity (e.g., research publications, presentations, grants). Participate in community service and committee work at the departmental and university levels. Provide student advisement.
